MOL Launches Ship Management/Crew Training Businesses

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced that the company has established MOL Synergy Marine (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (“MOL Synergy”) jointly with Synergy Group (CEO: Rajesh Unni; Head Office: Singapore), a ship management services group in Chennai, India, to provide ship management and crew training services. MOL Synergy has already started managing five MOL-operated vessels. On the other hand, it established a crew training center with latest technology simulators in Chennai, and hosted its grand opening ceremony on October 8. The center is equipped to train ship board crew in all aspects of ship operations including navigation, watch keeping, cargo handling and ship maintenance. The MOL Group will create new ship management and crew training businesses by integrating the marine technical knowhow accumulated over 130 years of vessel operation with Synergy Group's growing ship management methods. These new businesses will be competitive in both quality and cost, and will offer additional value-added services to their customers. Established in 2006, Synergy Group has set up global business operations to serve shipowners, and expanded the number of vessels it manages to over 100 now. It has also earned high regard from customers, winning BP Shipping’s “Partner of the Year” award in November 2013..
