natural gas transportation between the islands of Indonesia and will be operated by Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PT PLN), Indonesian National Electric Company, according to Hantong. The vessel is designed by CIMC ORIC, using natural gas as power, driven by dual fuel main engine, with 110-meter length over all and 14-knots design speed.
It will be designed and constructed under the classification society American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and PT. Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero)(BKI). The delivery is expected to take place in May 2016. The carrier’s price tag stands at approximately USD 200 million.
“Along with the increasing demand for clean energy in shipping industry and related technology keeping improving, the successful signing of CNG project signifies our another breakthrough in building gas carriers after successfully developing the market of stainless steel chemical tanker,” Hantong said in a release.
