logistics services by once more sponsoring the Best Thesis Award for graduates of the Supply Chain Management Masters degree programme at Tilburg University in the Netherlands.
The award, which is designed to inspire students to excel in the logistics arena, was presented earlier this month to Koen Gerrits for his thesis on ‘Improving Transportation Performance Using Supply Chain Collaboration: A Case Study of Transportation in the Plant Network of FrieslandCampina’. FrieslandCampina is a prominent supplier of dairy produce in the Netherlands. Tilburg University’s Dr. A.A.C.J. van Oijen, who headed the panel judging the Best Thesis, praised Koen’s research work for its “thorough analysis but also for its practical recommendations”.
Commenting on Menlo’s support of the award, Gert Jan van Sluis, the company’s European HR Director said, “The judges were impressed by Koen’s exploration of the impact of cooperation on the performance of the transport function and how key such collaboration can be for increasing efficiencies in the future.
At Menlo we are constantly looking for process improvements across all aspects of the supply chain. Both support for this sort of research and the encouragement of higher education standards in the logistics sector complement Menlo’s business philosophy. We are delighted to sponsor Tilburg University’s Best Thesis Award.”
