Rally Dakar Director, Etienne Lavigne, was present in the PCO at the beginning of Desafío Guaraní. It stood out the importance of Paraguay being part of the Dakar Series, and left a door opened for a future participation of the country in the most extreme off-road competition of the world. The first edition of Desafío Guaraní is over and everybody was satisfied and willing to repeat the experience with a race of this magnitude. With the integration of Paraguay in the Dakar-Series calendar one more circuit has been laid out in the rally raid world.
“I think we’re in a success dynamic, we had a fantastic start dat. There were a lot of spectators that were enthusiastic with the new event in Paraguay, which is a really interesting edition for many reasons. We have a good number of participants from the continent, and a good organization. It is very important to know that everybody can work here in the best way possible and that there is a really efficient collaboration between the Dakar Series organization and the national institutions” pointed out the Rally Dakar Director during the first racing days.
Etienne Lavigne referred to the media impact of the first Dakar Series: “A key point for us is the media. We’re having an interesting international coverage for these types of events”.
Finally, Lavigne also talked about the future of Paraguay in these types of sport events: “For us it is a very big satisfaction to add Paraguay to the Dakar Series calendar. We think it can open up the idea of coming back to the country with the Dakar. We don’t know when but we can imagine it because we know you’re capable and willing to organize this kind of international events”
closed the Rally Dakar Director after leaving good signs for a future race in the Guarani’s lands.
